Testimonials

“I had put up with neck pain for some time and my Daughter-in-law, who attends the clinic, suggested that I make an appointment with Katherine. The pain in my neck extended from my head down to the right shoulder blade, making it difficult for me to turn my head to the right. Katherine explained fully what was happening and put me at ease when she began treatment. Yes it was painful at first but I realised the exercises she asked me to perform would get to the root of the pain. There was improvement after each of my three sessions and I was finally able to turn my head freely to the right without pain and discomfort. From the results of my treatment, I thoroughly recommend Katherine Terry to anyone in pain or discomfort.” E.Acerman

How we as osteopaths, at Hands on Care, will treat you if you have arthritis.

You may be seeking the help of an osteopath if you already have a diagnosis of arthritis or it might be that the osteopath is the first person to diagnose the condition.

As Osteopaths we are recognised as Allied Health Care Practitioners. We will start by taking a detailed case history, asking not only about your symptoms but also about your lifestyle.  After examining you, we will explain how we can help, or in the case of a new diagnosis of suspected arthritis we may refer you back to the GP for further test and investigation such as blood test, x-rays or scans.

We take a holistic approach to treating arthritis. Our goal is to improve quality of life by helping to reduce pain and improve mobility by:

  • Manual therapy: We use hands-on techniques to manipulate the muscles, joints, and soft tissues to reduce pain and improve mobility. This may include techniques such as joint mobilisation, gentle or deep tissue massage and stretching.
  • Exercise prescription: We may prescribe exercises that help to improve flexibility, strength, and posture. These exercises may include stretching, strengthening, and aerobic activities.
  • Lifestyle modifications: We may provide advice on lifestyle modifications such as ergonomics at work, stress management techniques, and nutrition.
  • Pain management: We may use other therapies such as acupuncture, heat or ice therapy, to manage pain and reduce inflammation. We will talk to you about the science of pain management and techniques you maybe able to apply to help manage your pain.

Katherine is also a registered practitioner with the charity Arthritis Action. By signing up to this charity it allows two subsidised treatment sessions a year as well as many other useful resources.
